- Sánchez Llibre: “Our goal is to take advantage of the existing air connection between Barcelona and Boston to strengthen bilateral economic relations with the complicity of the Catalan and American governments and the support of partners such as LEVEL”
- The employers’ association has highlighted the creation of multiple alliances that have been fostered between Foment and the entities visited such as the Innoventure Labs accelerator, MIT and Harvard
The president of Foment del Treball, Josep Sánchez Llibre, has defended, during the business mission in Boston with about twenty women entrepreneurs, the need to create a continuous link between the innovation ecosystems of the two cities: “our goal is to take advantage of the existing air connection between Barcelona and Boston to strengthen our bilateral economic relations, with the complicity of the Catalan and American governments, and the support of partners such as LEVEL, Tech Barcelona and the law firm RCD”.
In this regard, Sánchez Llibre has announced the organization of a major meeting in Barcelona in the fall of 2025 to welcome the institutions that have met with the delegation of emerging entrepreneurs these days in the capital of Massachusetts. To make this possible, the employers’ leader highlighted that “we have a direct air connection, a high presence of the health innovation ecosystem in both cities, and the trust of the U.S. government through its Consulate General in Barcelona”, with whom the employers’ association has been collaborating for four years and is jointly committed to promoting initiatives that foster female leadership.
During the mission, the participants of the Jump Startup for Women in Deeptech program, led by the employers’ association and the consulate, held a meeting with the Secretary of Economic Development of the Government of Massachusetts, Yvonne Hao, accompanied by the executive director of the Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment (MOITI), Jeevan Ramapriya.
Visits to MIT Media Lab and LabCentral are still pending, as well as the closing day on Friday organized by ACCIÓ´s New York office, which will feature two round tables, one with female entrepreneurs in the health sector and the other with investors, in addition to a final presentation on Artificial Intelligence and its implications for business strategy.
